The colonial history of the west is fueled by the desire to teach the most efficient way of doing things. The rhetorical question of “How to Enjoy Ceylon Tea” and the subsequent elaborative instruction on how to brew tea serves the purpose of this desire. By dipping her white socks, white undergarments, pearl drops, white spheres she uses to tap into the world and eventually her body into the tea, the artist seeks “Other” ways of enjoying the Ceylon Tea. Tea penetrates the cracks and chasms of the world with its pungent and strong scent and gives its color to all that is white.
